The biggest Bloggernacle holiday of the year!

April 1, 2005    By: Geoff J @ 8:43 am   Category: Bloggernacle

I have concluded that today is the “most wonderful day of the year” in the Bloggernacle. Sure all those other more traditional holidays are great, but they tend to get people offline and spending time with their real families. But not April Fools day. Oh no, April Onest is the day we get to celebrate with our online friends and family. Why, it’s bigger than Decemberween!

M* got things kicked off with a new site design. T&S followed shortly thereafter announcing Steve was dead (to the ‘Nacle at least), reviewing some classic Seuss, restoring polygamy, and launching a karaoke feature. Not to be outdone, Ronan revealed that the Brethren asked him to change the name of his blog and that he had it on good authority that Sunday School will be disbanded this weekend.

In late breaking news, Kaimi just announced over at BCC that he actually hates women.

I’ll be keeping my eye on the pulse of the Bloggernacle for more festivities.

I found the Bloggernacle in the D&C!

Yep, Sunday school inspired me again this week. We were studying section 25 and this verse about the Bloggernacle jumped out at me: (more…)

Give me convenience or give me death!

I always chuckled at that saying. I think that was the title of an album by a punk band in the 80’s — but I can’t remember which band it was. In any case it applies to the new home page for the Mormon Archipelago: www.ldsblogs.org Go check it out and let me know what you think!

The purpose of the new site is to be a useful central place to see what’s going on at all of the best blogs in the Bloggernacle. We hope it will continue to grow more useful over time. Be sure to try our the sweeeeeet search function written by my super-smart younger brother Russ. Yer gonna love it!

What does God think of the Bloggernacle?

February 28, 2005    By: Geoff J @ 3:12 pm   Category: Bloggernacle,Theology

Or maybe the question should be: Does God think of the Bloggernacle? I’m reminded of that great story in told in general conference a few years ago about a priesthood leader that was in need and had the name of a certain man come into his head as the right person to ask for help. This saint made the requested sacrifice and said it was worth it all “just to know the God in heaven knows my name.” This post is to assure you, good readers, that God knows your names. (more…)

No blog is an island… Oh, wait… I guess mine is now…

I just got officially connected with the Mormon Archipelago – a group of top-notch Mormon blogs run by really cool and smart Mormons who I’ve never met but I like anyway. You’ll notice the fancy new logo and feed from my new sibling-blogs in the sidebar. I like it because I’m always visiting their blogs anyway so this saves me having to use that pesky bookmark dropdown. You’ll like it because their blogs rock. (more…)

Left-wing, Right-wing — it’s all Babylonian to me

January 29, 2005    By: Geoff J @ 3:09 pm   Category: Bloggernacle,Mormon Culture/Practices

Blogging has opened my eyes to the contentious world of Mormon political right-wingers vs. Mormon political left-wingers. I can understand when non-LDS people get obsessively involved in the left vs. right struggle in American and world politics. I’m sure it seems vitally important to them. But I have trouble understanding why Latter Day Saints would get so passionately involved in the fray. (more…)
