BYU steamrolled UCLA today. It was total domination in nearly every aspect of the game. I’d say all the annoying carping about the way the last game ended ought to fade away after today.
It wasn’t a perfect game but it was nearly perfect. It’s a fun time to be a Cougar fan.
It’s nice not to have the normal stressful viewing experience. This one has been fun to watch.

Just got home from the game (we left early). Lavell Edwards stadium was rocking today. That’s the best the Cougs have looked in quite a while.

One thing that really stood out today was how awesome our O-line is playing. I don’t remember seeing the QB get hurried even once. If I remember right the O-line was also great last week. Hall is going to get the glory but that line should get a lot of credit.

It’ll be interesting to see what the AP does with them this week. After near wins from Oregon and ECU over mediocre teams, we ought to see a leapfrog.

What with baseball season in full swing and hurricanes swirling about me the past couple of weeks, it had entirely escaped my notice that football season had begun.
However, catching up on things, I see that my two alma maters won today by a combined score of 102-7 and that they are a combined 6-0, both in the top 20 and likely to move up.
I should ignore football season more often.

There is a lot to be encouraged about right now for the Cougs. BYU has proves to be a team that gets better and better throughout the year with Bronco Mendenhall at the helm. Here is the remaining schedule:

The TCU and Utah games will be tough but the rest shouldn’t be all that hard. BYU needs the MWC teams to continue to do well in non-conference games in order to get any respect for MWC league wins. With New Mexico beating Arizona, TCU taking down Stanford plus three other non-conference wins today it seems the MWC is looking pretty good this week.

Well by the looks of things after this week Clark our remaining MWC conference schedule will be tougher than the remaining conference schedule any team in the Pac 10, Big East, or ACC will face. The BS about the MWC not being a strong conference isn’t flying right now at all.

If the MWC would invite Fresno State and Boise State in, I think we’d have a good shot at getting an automatic bid. That conference would have five teams in the top 30 right now.

Oh that it were that simple Eric. You are assuming that having a really good conference would be enough to get an invite into the BCS. Since the BCS is actually about money and power (rather than good football) I would argue that adding Boise State and Fresno State wouldn’t make any significant difference at all when it comes to getting an invite into the cartel. I predict that if the BCS bosses ever actually said that the MWC would get in with those additions the invitations would be FedExed to BSU and FSU overnight.

According to this pseudo-RPI site the MWC is the 4th best conference in football as of week three. They have the MWC coming in above the Pac 10, Big East, and ACC. Pretty cool.

I usually comment on these BYU football posts just to poke fun, but there is nothing to poke fun at this week. Clearly this was an outstanding performance. It would be a lot of fun if BYU and Utah were both undefeated going into Nov 22.
