Fear the Stache

As some of you might remember, I was participating in a Sept. 15 to Nov. 15 mustache growing contest with my five brothers and one brother in law. The contest is now over and entries are in.

BEHOLD! (and tremble)

The judging is taking place right now. (Judges are mostly extended family members on a family emailing list.) The three categories are Bushiness, Coolness, and Goofiness. While most of the bros went for bushy staches of sorts I decided to mix it up and focus on the goofiness/coolness angle. We’ll see soon how that works.

Anyhow, Kristen created the grand prize. Here it is:

For the record, it turns out mustaches aren’t super comfortable and I actually shaved mine within 5 minutes of taking the contest pictures. But it was fun to see how freaked out the stache made people for a couple of months.

    Jacob — Don’t jinx me. That sweet balaclava is almost mine.

    I personally think that Spencer’s “giddy like a school girl” pose was genius. That should earn some votes. Ian is at BYU Hawaii so he went with the BYU-approved stache.

    Can anyone guess who the brother in law is?

  6. Jacob, I wouldn’t count Ian out (for second place anyway). That is a magnificent mustache: full, yet unpretentious; makes a statement without overstaying its welcome.

    The SR-71 Blackbird pic was a nod to our maternal grandfather Robinson who was on the Lockheed Skunk Works team that created that beauty. TC was just shilling for extra votes with the extended family I think but it looks like his ploy works even beyond the fam!

  23. Though I seriously hate mustaches, I have to go with Geoff as well. The little curly things on the sides plus the fact that he didn’t camoflage the pure mustacheness with a lot of other facial hair wins it. The tiny tuft beneath his lower lip just sets it off perfectly. Geoff the clear winnah!
