I just bought 72 glasses for $5. Yeah, you heard me, 72 GLASSES-FIVE DOLLARS! Ok, they have Spaghetti Palace written on them and red, white, and green stripes circling the top but they were only 7 cents each. How can you beat that? If you haven’t guessed, I love bargains. It’s not necessarily a good thing with me it’s probably more like a crazy thing. As I’ve said before, we all have our “special needs”.

Not only do I like bargains but I like outlet stores. Not the kind that are located in your neighborhood outlet mall, those are not real outlet stores they only use those words to lure you in to what is really just a regular store with just a few extra things on sale. I love the kind of outlet stores that sell you a dented number 10 can of water chestnuts for $1.50 or smashed boxes of cornflakes for 99 cents.

I know what you’re thinking, why would you want a smashed box of cornflakes or that many water chestnuts? Honestly, I don’t. It’s the thrill of the hunt that I love. It’s not just the outlet stores either but any store with a good bargain gives me a thrill. I could be wandering through Target and notice that they are selling thongs (not flip-flops) for a dollar a piece and I might contemplate buying a few. I don’t wear thongs and I never will but when will I ever see them at such a good price again?

It drives my husband nuts and we have had a few discussions on the topic. Right now he’s unloading the dishwasher and muttering to himself. I can hear an occasional, “72 glasses, grumble, grumble, too many glasses.” I try to restrain myself for his sake. When I bought the glasses I walked right past the cases of expired hemorrhoid cream selling for only $3 each.

If he dies before I do I plan on comforting myself by buying Christmas toe socks in July for $2 a pair. I will also bore my grandkids silly with constant talk of bargain hunting and shopping. I know they won’t complain when I send them home with their very own cans of water chestnuts, hemorrhoid cream, and thongs!
